Bucket List Becomes Reality!

Our youth may come from a variety of different backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common-- they are teenagers with dreams, passions, and visions for their future.

LFG Excellence Grant Recipient 2021

VP of Fund Development, Libby, notes: "One thing we do to ease a young person’s transition into our residential program is to ask them what they have always wanted to do but never had the chance to do. And then we do everything in our power to make that happen. If a young person has never been to the snow, the beach, a theme park, or seen a redwood tree, we want to do our best to make that happen and create memories with them that they can carry forward as they heal and process.”

Because many of the youth we serve have experienced trauma, they need more than just stability – they need opportunities for joy, wonder, creativity, exploration, and normality—cue the Lafayette Community Foundation. In April 2021, the foundation awarded Youth Homes a grant totaling $4,000 to support our 100% donor-funded "Bucket List" program.

With the aid of partners like the Lafayette Community Foundation, we can bring the generosity and talent of the community into our residential program and connect these deserving youth with resources and memories they might not otherwise have.

By empowering youth to participate in these healing activities, they engage in creativity, nature, physical activity, and build pride in their accomplishments. The connection to a broader world of learning and enrichment provided by trustworthy adults in a safe environment accomplishes a critical goal, it demonstrates to our young people the community believes in and values their voices, minds, creative abilities, and they are worth investing in.

THANK YOU Lafayette Community Foundation!
