Meet Youth Homes’ New CEO, Tim Byrd

It is truly a pleasure to announce the appointment of Tim Byrd as our new Chief Executive Officer for Youth Homes. Tim has served in key positions for both for-profit and nonprofit organizations, most recently as the Senior Executive Director of the YMCA of San Francisco.

He brings comprehensive hands-on experience in financial, organizational, and facility management, as well as a human-centered and mission-focused leadership style to promote the wellbeing and success of our young clients and their families.

"Tim Byrd has been working tirelessly on behalf of Youth Homes since he was appointed interim CEO in July of this year," said Gerriann Smith, Youth Homes' Board President. "We are delighted to have his expertise and vision for the future as he transitions from a consultant to full-time leadership of our organization."

Tim began with Youth Homes in the summer of 2021 and has already created a stable environment for the organization. Additionally, he commenced the development of an employee recruitment and retention plan and created detailed facility reports and preventative maintenance plan for our homes to avoid future disrepair and expenses.

Tim stated, "I am fortunate to have had the time as the Interim CEO, as it has provided me insight into the needs and culture of the organization. I have been inspired by the dedication and passion of the individuals involved with every aspect of Youth Homes. It will be my honor as CEO to channel that passion while making decisions that keep the mission of empowering young people and their families to create positive, sustainable change at the forefront."

Tim, who was raised in Novato, CA, has lived in Concord for 22 years. He has worked to drive positive outcomes for youth for more than 30 years. He is passionate about creating opportunities for youth and believes that our responsibility is to empower youth to become their best selves. In his spare time, Tim likes to golf, bike, take walks, and play games with friends and family.

We believe his dedication and passion for the youth, staff, and volunteers will encourage a collaborative work experience with open communication for both the organization and community partners. His extensive background as a cause-driven leader will take Youth Homes to a new level of success.
